Dollar eases from record, NBU euro rate at UAH 50.64

The official dollar rate has retreated from its record. The NBU set the euro at UAH 50.64 for October 7, giving clients a new hryvnia reference for the next day.

The official dollar rate has eased from its record level, while the National Bank of Ukraine set the euro at UAH 50.64 for October 7. For clients holding dollars and considering euros, or looking at the reverse exchange, the evening update brings a dollar retreat alongside a specific official hryvnia level for the euro.

On Tuesday, October 6, these are announced rates for the following day. They apply on Wednesday, October 7. The timing matters to the figures: the NBU decision establishes tomorrow’s official reference rather than describing the price of a cash transaction taking place at a Kyiv counter tonight.

The two currencies feature differently in this update. For the dollar, the confirmed development is a decline from a record. For the euro, the confirmed figure is UAH 50.64. That euro level alone does not establish whether the currency rose or fell against the hryvnia compared with the previous day. A direction for one currency and a level for the other are separate facts.

Euro fixed at UAH 50.64 for October 7

The euro figure is the NBU’s official hryvnia rate for one euro. It gives the European currency a concrete place in the next day’s official schedule, rather than leaving the evening news entirely focused on the dollar’s retreat. The announced date attaches to that reference: October 7, not the preceding evening’s cash prices.

An official rate and a counter’s buying or selling price are different quotations. The central bank decision sets the former; it does not set the terms offered by a particular cash desk. This is not a ready USD-to-EUR cash quote. The euro figure therefore stays a hryvnia reference here, without being converted into an implied offer between the two foreign currencies.

For clients following cash exchange in Kyiv, our counter quotations are listed separately under current Obminvalut rates. UAH 50.64 in this update belongs to the National Bank’s announcement. It is not presented as the price at which Obminvalut sells euros or the price at which our desk buys them from a client.

That distinction also keeps the dollar news in proportion. A retreat in the official dollar rate does not, by itself, establish that exchanging dollars for euros has become more attractive at a cash counter. Nor does it establish the opposite for someone holding euros. Neither direction of exchange receives a confirmed transaction price from this announcement.

Dollar retreats from its record

The move away from a record describes an established change, not a forecast. The decision concerns October 7. Extending the decline across the rest of the week, or presenting it as the start of a sustained hryvnia strengthening, would go beyond the confirmed development. The news is the new official setting and the dollar’s retreat within it.

The sequence is straightforward: the rates are announced on Tuesday and apply on Wednesday. Keeping those moments separate avoids treating a next-day official reference as a same-evening cash offer. It also keeps the euro’s numerical level separate from the dollar’s reported direction.

For our evening desk update, the confirmed position is therefore narrow but concrete: the NBU has set the official rates for October 7, the dollar has moved off its record, and the euro stands at UAH 50.64. No calculated dollar–euro cross or assumed cash price is attached to those facts.
